Tasting Room Guidelines

After only eight weeks open, we are 90 members strong and growing.  Our collector vaults are all taken.  If you have family or friends that might be interested in joining, please have them send their applications directly to my personal email at info@thewinehuntress.com.

Because we are growing, I put together some general guidelines below that should help all of us navigate around the tasting room as well as reminders regarding membership.  We are taking many reservations for private events over the upcoming month.

The Wine Huntress Tasting Room Guidelines

1.)    Members are allowed to bring in up to three guests during tasting room hours.  Guests must be 21 years of age.  Guests must taste from a tasting card, not the member card.  Guests are allowed to make purchases from the store.

2.)    No outside food or beverages are allowed in the tasting room.

3.)    Each member is entitled to host one private event per year.  There is a $500 minimum per hour for use of the tasting room.  Bottle service is not offered.  Guests may taste from the tasting station.  A staff member will be available for assistance and questions with wines on the tasting station.     We can accommodate events of up to 40 people.  Kinzie Chophouse is the designated caterer for events, if food service is desired.  Food is billed separately and is not included in the minimum.

4.)    Each member is entitled to attend one of our wine events per year.  Additional events may be purchased for $25 per event.  Guests may attend events for $25 per person if space permits.

5.)    One class is provided for each member annually.  Guests may attend the class, space permitting.   We will be covering material directly from the wine educators and certification courses, so we would strongly encourage all members to take advantage of this service.

6.)    Our collectors who have wine stored on premise are the only members that are permitted to have a bottle opened in the tasting room.   For your convenience, we will keep an inventory in each of our collector’s lockers.

7.)    All members receive a 10% discount when dining at The Kinzie Chophouse.  You may either use the Open Table reservation system or show your Wine Huntress card to receive your discount.  There is no corkage fee for wines purchased at The Wine Huntress.

8.)    Each member has committed to purchase a minimum of one bottle of wine per month.  If you are not able to pick it up, we are happy to select something for you, based on your preferences and ship it to you.

9.)    We offer shipping within the city using We Deliver, and outside of Chicago using UPS.  Please let us know if we can ship something for you.  Our shipping fees will be applied to your account.  We do not ship in the months of June, July or August, or during extreme conditions, as to protect the integrity of the wine.

10.)  We have created a collector’s lounge area in the back of the room for those of you who have decided to be collectors.  If the area is not being utilized, any members may have use of the space in the back of the room near the vaults.  If collectors enter the premises, members will be encouraged to move up front to the tasting station.  We will continually be changing the space to keep it fresh and comfortable for all of our members and their guests.
